Great Expectations or Expectations of Greatness

It’s good to have expectations … yes? Expectations of others, expectations of the world, expectations of ones self, all seem to be natural and normal.  Parents expect great things from their children, managers expect excellent performance from their staff, and the nation has high expectations of its sports stars.  Inevitably, one day, those expectations will not be met, and we will feel let down.  For some it’s as if their whole world collapses and they feel crushed inside.  Why?   Not because our child or the sports star did not perform, not because the job did not get done, but because we made our happiness dependent on our expectations being met.  We made the well being of our inner world dependent on what happens in the outer world.  The ‘let down’ feeling of sadness frequently turns to anger and resentment as we look for someone to blame for our unhappiness.  Mistrust enters the relationship as we hold on to our ‘hurt’ for days, weeks and even years.

So what’s the solution?  Perhaps it’s simply better to have no expectations.  Then we may avoid disappointment altogether.   If we can be free of expectations we stop living for some future outcome or result, and we start living in the present moment.  If we can be free of expectations of others and of ourselves, we can then dissolve the ‘tense thinking’ that inhabits the space between now and then!  And if we can be free of all expectations we are open to whatever may happen and then we are better able to respond to whatever does happen.

If this sounds slightly impractical in relationships such as parent/child or manager/employee then perhaps there is a third way, a ‘low road’, until we are ready to take the ‘high road’.  I expect you to do the job efficiently, I expect you to be on time, I expect you to be all that you can be.  But if you don’t, it’s OK, my happiness is not dependent on it.  Is it possible to separate the meeting of our expectations with our happiness?  It would appear to be the only way forward in a practical sense.  In this way we take the suffering out of unmet expectations, which then allows us to engage more proactively as we enquire to find out why things did not go as expected, “Was something wrong…. Did you need help…. What happened exactly?”  These are all questions motivated by the intention to understand the other.  Questions that will not come easily, if at all, if we are sad and angry at having been let down.  The secret is to realize that when someone does not meet your expectations, they don’t let you down, you let you down!

Much of the time we use the word ‘expectations’ what we really mean is desire.  When we ‘expect’ we are really saying ‘I want’.  And if our happiness is tied to the fulfillment of our desires then we are bound to create a roller coaster journey through life.  Essentially we want others to make us happy which of course, they can never do.  You do know that don’t you?  Only you can make your self happy.  Only you can make your contentment stable and strong.  But as long as you think the other person, the train being on time, your team winning, are the shapers of your happiness then your expectations will always be the ‘enemy within’.

The best way to use expectation is as a form of empowerment.  To expect the best of someone is to have a vision of them performing at their best.  To create that vision is to transmit that vision to them which is a form of empowering them with a very positive energy.  It is a form of empowerment to see someone be at their best in your mind.  And the same applies to your self.  It is no accident that in the last decade all the top sports men and women have resorted less to the adrenaline ‘hit’ to induce peak performance, and more to visualizing their own ‘excellence’ before going anywhere near the tennis court and the golf course etc.  They build such a positive vision of themselves that when they do go out and perform they reach their peak with greater ease.  So when you expect the best of your child or your employee you have created a positive and elevated vision of them, which they can sense in you.  And when you don’t become unhappy and upset when they don’t get there exactly when or in the way you expected, they still feel your support, they still feel your encouragement; they are still empowered by your authentic care about them.  They are no longer disempowered by your narrow concern for your own happiness.  They no longer fear your emotional reaction if they don’t reach the stars… exactly… on time!

IF A LIZARD CAN, WHY CAN'T WE? Yog E-Link

This is a true story that happened in Japan.

In order to renovate the house, a Japanese man breaks open the wall. Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls.

When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there, because a nail from outside had been hammered into one of its feet.

He sees this, feels pity, & at the same time curious. When he checks the nail, it was nailed 5 years ago, when the house was built!!!

What happened?

The lizard had survived in such a position for 5 yrs!!!

In a dark wall partition for 5 years without moving, it is impossible and mind-boggling.

Then he wondered how this lizard had survived for 5 years without moving a single inch, since its foot was impaled!

So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, to see what it has been doing, and how it has been eating

Later, not knowing from where it came, appears another lizard, with food in it's mouth.

Ah! He was stunned and touched deeply.

For the lizard that was impaled by the nail, another lizard had been feeding it for the past 5 years.

Imagine? It has been doing that untiringly for 5 long years, without giving up hope on its partner.

Imagine what a small creature can do, that a creature blessed with a brilliant mind cannot do.

Please, never abandon your loved ones. Don't turn your back on people because they are in difficulty. Don't see yourself as more intelligent or the best. You may be a bit luckier today but life is uncertain and can change things tomorrow....

A Moment of negligence might break the very heart which loved you against all odds..

Before you say something just remember...

*It takes a moment to break, but an entire lifetime to make ............*

God created space within our fingers so that we can hold hands......

Be there for somebody today!!!

The King and The Prince - An untold Story

Once upon a time.

The entire king used to be the only king of the kingdom.

There was also a son of that king, but the surprising thing is that there was none but the King and his son on the whole creation, neither any queen, nor any courtier nor any other people.

This thing was very mysterious, amazing but true.

It was incredible to be nothing but the existence of only two in the entire universe, but this was also very exciting because of this.

The king was very intelligent.

Now the father was his son, then the son was wise like the king.

Both of them had great love among themselves.

It was natural because there was no other than both, otherwise both of them used to spend time chatting with each other, laughing at each other.

One day the son got bored with daily routine and told the king that if you play so many instruments for me to play, I will not fill my heart even when I play from morning to evening. If there are only some companions, then good.

The King said, okay, here in this house on the sky we do not need the body, but if you have to say it then go back to the morning everyday on earth, come back in the evening but keep in mind that the rules of nature on earth are working Those limited rules must be followed.

The son said with great happiness that he was approved.

For Rajkumar, Raja composed a big day of 5000 years, in which the day was 2500 years and the night of 2500 years.

Qunky prince was not aware of the difference between the sign and the night.

The king planned to send all those people who were inactive in his state without body.

The king said to the prince, "I have prepared this 5000 year old game for you, how did you feel like this?"

So the prince saw him many times to understand that game.

He asked if everything is good at the beginning of the game, but later in the game, what are these sadness, tensions and evils in the game?

Father explained the prince "These games will be played on the earth and it will automatically by nature, I give all the seed, nature will run made all the work by the destruction then seed will bring him up again her time.

And you I will not need it.

Then the prince asked how this nature would work by itself.

Then the king said that nature will be governed by three powers.

The work of a power will be the production, the

second power will be the operation, the

third power will be the displacement.

Which will be known as Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.

The king said, "My dear son, now that

I have created this game according to you , you have to play these three parts from time to time,

because now, according to nature, behind the happiness, behind the pleasure, the profanity and the knowledge of purity so back comes ignorance that play the game you have to come back in the evening.
See you 84 garments in 5000 years that you will hold in the body.
the game started and Secrets Umar came to earth, the first body he holds, he called Krishna.

There he got many people in the form of a fellow companion.
Rajkumar's 5000 year old day was also in four parts.

Breakfast was the golden age of 1250 years

remains afternoon Tretayug 1250 year

remained evening Dwapryug 1250 years
and remained night Kaliyuga 1250 year.

Gradually it started to pass during the game.

The time of the night also came to an end.

Rajkumar used the last body clothes too.

He was very tired, black was the night and he was not suggesting anything.

He thought of flying back, but the profanity had cut his wings, due to which he not only lost his last clothes but also the soul.

She began to call her father nervous and cry out.
His father Raja was seeing everything from the sky, he understood that I would have to go to the land to take him.
He came to earth but the prince was so insulted with ignorance that his father could not even recognize him.

The father began to wash his soul purely by introducing himself to his son.

Gradually all the memory of Rajkumar returned, the king smiled and said that the son had played with your own consent, say, make the game easy.

Rajkumar lying in the lap of the father said that let's have fun and there are no conflicts and conflicts in the game.

The prince said that let's go home,

then the king said that your power came back, but what they have played with you is to make them clean, wash their soul clean and clean.

Now you have learned that this work is now your responsibility and by saying that I will be coming to your aid, the

King goes to his own land.

Now the responsibility of the Prince changed, so that the name of that last garments changed too.

The story starts here again, the prince comes to play on this earth every morning, when he gets tired in the evening, the king comes back as a daily and takes him back by washing.

This game continues steadfastly.

That king's name is * Shiva *

and he is the prince * Sri Krishna *.
